Simon is based in Brighton, on the London periphery, and has been working as a fashion and editorial hair stylist for 20 years.
He began his journey as a hair stylist working in salons across Brighton from the age of 16 before being recruited as one of the original L’Oreal ID Artists in the early nineties for the brand’s international creative team, training alongside Rudi Lewis and Zoe Irwin in London. Assisting stylists like Alain Pichon and Samantha Hillerby and working on set with photographers such as Sølve Sundsbø, Mel Bless and David Levine expanded his technical and creative understanding of his craft.
He became a regular backstage at London Fashion Week working on shows such as Vivienne Westwood, Jasper Conran and Manish Arora. Through these early professional experiences Simon gained an exceptional professional foundation and first-hand insight into the world of session styling for high-end look-books, publications and promotional campaigns. Inspired by his interests in art, music and design, Simon built a reputation for creative Avant-Garde as well as commercial styling.
Simon used this foundation experience and knowledge of the industry to advance his career as a session-stylist in 2012. His work can be seen in publications including Vogue (Italia, Russia & UK), Garage and Vice magazine, in campaigns for Gucci, Truefitt & Hill, L’Oreal and Erdem, for fashion designers DSquared2, Rick Owens and Hood By Air, as well and in music videos for Dexys, Fatboy Slim and Aurora.
His most recent stylist relationships have seen him working alongside Duffy, Eugene Souleiman and Sam McKnight, whilst independently developing close working collaborations with breakthrough photographers such as Nadia Lee (Vice and Hunger) Kenny McCracken (Beautiful Savage NY) and Olly Hearsey (Hunger Online).
His passion for and time spent working in the hair industry have provided him with a creative versatility, perception and expertise unique to those with such a breadth of experience; his professional philosophy demonstrates a forward-thinking approach with recognition of old-school understanding. His natural ease, style and gregarious demeanour give Simon the ability to work with all types of client and fulfil any brief.
